Anchorage, AK – Supporters say a bill constraining gun control protects Second Amendment rights. Critics say it violates the U.S. Constitution and won't pass legal scrutiny.
People who live outside Alaska for more than five years but can prove their intent to return and stay indefinitely would become eligible to receive Alaska Permanent Fund Dividends under a bill that passed the state House.
The Senate adopted a bill extending the Suicide Prevention Council until at least 2019. The bill's sponsor says the Council can help slow the "horrible epidemic" of suicide in Alaska, where rates are among the highest in the nation.
