7/5/14 KNBA News - The Village of Saxman sues over non-rural subsistence status

Last week, the Organized Village of Saxman, near Ketchikan, sued the Federal Subsistence Board and the Secretaries of Interior and Agriculture over the board's ruling in 2007 that the Village is non-rural for subsistence purposes. The Village has been working through the administrative appeal process ever since, and now a deadline for lawsuits on the decision is coming up. The board voted a few months ago to reconsider the non-rural designation.
