Anchorge Police Department Bulletin

Friday, Jan. 29, 2016

Police have located woman who was robbed of her purse at gunpoint at Sams Club Muldoon. Suspects in custody.

At 3:18 p.m. on Friday, January 29, 2016, Anchorage Police responded to East Anchorage in regards to a robbery.  A Muldoon Sams Club employee was collecting carts in the parking lot when he heard a woman scream that she had been robbed of her purse by a man with a gun.  The Sams employee saw a man running away across the parking lot, dropping the purse in the process.  Meanwhile, a male adult and his mother were loading up their car in the same parking lot when they heard a commotion.  The son and mother got into their vehicle and made contact with the Sams Club employee.  The employee explained what he had seen, pointed out the running suspect, and asked the two to pursue the robber.

The man and his mother drove to McDonalds in the Tikahtnu parking lot as they witnessed the suspect run inside the restaurant.  Moments later the suspect left McDonalds through a different door from which he entered, got into the passenger side of a vehicle, and then drove away.  The mother and son called police, followed the suspect vehicle, and gave updates of their location to Dispatch.

The suspects drove to a business parking lot at 360 Boniface Parkway.  Police arrived on-scene and took a male and female into custody.  The suspects are currently at APD for questioning.

By the time police arrived at Sams Club, the female victim had left the scene.  It was very important that police speak with the victim, who later contacted the police.
