The Barr Brothers On Mountain Stage

Indie-folk band The Barr Brothers appears on Mountain Stage, recorded live on the campus of West Virginia University. After cutting their teeth touring the U.S. as members of The Slip, brothers Andrew and Brad Barr relocated to Montreal and joined forces with classically trained experimental harpist Sarah Page. Since the release of its self-titled debut in 2012, the band has played on the rim of the Grand Canyon, performed on one of David Letterman's final shows, opened for Emmylou Harris and played festivals from Iceland to Portland.

Because of problems at the Canadian border, the group wasn't able to make its early-afternoon Mountain Stage soundcheck, and was forced instead to set up, mid-show, in front of an already seated audience of nearly 1,000. Still, the band's professionalism showed as it delivered a tight three-song set that won the audience over within just a few notes.
