Anchorage, AK – A Mt. Edgecumbe high school teacher pulled together resources and cut through red tape to get a 60-foot wind turbine erected, which he'll use in math and physics lessions. The U.S. Coast Guard and Sitka Electric Department will also use data from the turbine.

The State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued air alerts for the Fairbanks area, where the issue of managing wood-burning stoves, the main source of the pollution, has been controversial.

Alaska Airlines is offering a discount for Alaska residents who belong to its mileage plan on fares to Juneau during the Legislative session.
