Alaska Water Wars is a multi-media project sharing the stories of Alaska Native people and large natural resource development projects coming to their regions. The Radio series airs December 4 - 8, 2017 on KNBA at 8:30 am & 5:30 pm.

While mining, and oil and gas drilling bring much-needed jobs and money to rural Alaska, Native communities have growing concerns about possible impacts to drinking water, fish and wildlife, and to their traditional ways of life.  This December, KNBA will broadcast this highly anticipated 5-part news series, including a website with added content and interviews. Communities featured in the series include Dillingham, Ewok, Igiugig, Iliamna, Kokhanok, Newhalen, and New Stuyahok.  Audiences will hear from Native people, whose lives and livelihoods may be significantly affected by the development of the Pebble Mine Project in the Bristol Bay region of Alaska.

Alaska Water Wars will air on KNBA 90.3 fm the week of December 4-8, 2017, at 8:30 and 10:30 AM and 5:30PM each weekday. It will also be showcased, through a link at www.knba.org, at the project web site with more images, video and links to social media platforms and other information featured in the audio news series.

Alaska Water Wars is produced by Daysha Eaton, an award-winning Alaska Journalist;  Joaqlin Estus (Tlingit), Editor, and Bryan Adams (Iñupiaq), Photography. Additional support comes from the Alaska Humanities Forum.

His passion for Music and the 'Triple-A' radio format began in the early 90’s which led to him to help establish the format for KNBA when the station signed on in 1996. When not on the radio hosting a music show and interviewing local and national music acts, he may be on a long road trip or you’ll find him hanging out at his log cabin in the quiet, but bear filled hillside valley of his hometown Anchorage.
