April is National Child Abuse Prevention And Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

Polly Andrews, Outreach Advocate with Southcentral Foundation’s Family Wellness Warriors Initiative joined Morning Line today to help spread the message about healthy traditions for our families.

Polly Andrews is an Outreach Advocate in Anchorage, and originally from Chevak. She practices many traditional Cup'ik activities like berrypicking, family, and other harvesting and preparation of subsistence foods in a traditional manner.

Among other things, Andrews shared that community members can learn more by visiting the awareness fair this Friday at the Anchorage Native Primary Care Center Lobby from 10 to noon.

She mentioned that after the fair, a speaker, Gene McConnell, who started an organization called Authentic Relationships International, will present about how shame affects healthy relationships in the Sophia Chase Boardroom.
