KNBA Broadcasting at Reduced Power Level

On Sunday morning June 21st, the KNBA main Transmitter had a bit of a malfunction/meltdown. This caused KNBA to be off air for several hours on Sunday morning. Our engineers have connected the KNBA signal to our back-up transmitter. The back-up transmitter needs to operate at a lower power output which means the KNBA signal has less than our usual broadcast range. Listeners will notice the compromised audio quality while the Engineering team is working to replace and repair the main transmitter.  We hope to return to our main transmitter and operate at full power as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Burned out element of the KNBA main transmitter

Loren’s been on the Radio in Anchorage for 30 years. Since the mid 80's he's worked with Anchorage radio stations including KWHL, KFQD, KKLV, and KMXS. His passion for Music and the 'Triple-A' radio format began in the early 90’s which led to him to help establish the format for KNBA when the station signed on in 1996. When not on the radio hosting a music show and interviewing local and national music acts, he may be on a long road trip or you’ll find him hanging out at his log cabin in the quiet, but bear filled hillside valley of his hometown Anchorage.
