Sen. Dan Sullivan turns attention to veterans' health care
 
U.S. Senator Dan Sullivan is hosting meetings in Alaska to hear from veterans on health care provided through the Veterans Administration. The VA health undersecretary will attend listening sessions on Aug. 24 and Aug. 25 in Fairbanks and Kenai. The Senate Veteran Affairs Committee also will hold a field hearing on Aug. 25 in Eagle River.

Number of acres burned in Alaskan wildfires approaches a record
 
Officials say the Alaska fire season this year has burned almost 8,000 square miles, and is likely to become Alaska's second largest wildfire season on record. The Alaska Wildland Fire Information Center says extremely dry conditions in parts of the western Interior, southwest, and Seward Peninsula allow several fires to keep burning.

New video game release combines indigenous storytelling and video gaming
 
With the video game "Never Alone," Cook Inlet Tribal Council and its development and publishing partner E-line Media, combined indigenous storytelling with video gaming in a way that appealed to mass markets.
 
They have followed up that success with "Foxtales," released late last month. As KTOO's Lisa Phu reports, Juneau writer Ishmael Hope relied on his uncles, Alaska Native elders from Kotzebue, to write the game's narrative.
