Live In-Studio: Christy Hays & Beth Chrisman

Beth Chrisman returns home to the interior leading her fellow songwriter from Austin, TX on a 'Golden Tour' throughout Alaska! Beth grew up in Fairbanks and got her musical momentum playing with local bands and recording fiddle on records by the Whipsaws. She extended her talent to the Lower 48 and had success playing with the trio, The Carper Family. Christy Hays spent 4 years in South East Alaska enjoying the solitude and wilderness and using that time to continue developing her songwriting talents. From her Bio on ReverbNation... "I never wanted to be a songwriter, I also never thought I could sing. On the day the black night sky shared with me my path in this life, I was relieved and terrified. I drove my old car all the way from Alaska to Nashville. I began there in 2008. Fumbling with my self confidence, herding a band together, anxiety and small victories. Around Christmas in 2009 I moved to Austin with my then boyfriend. We spent Christmas day eating on a camp table in a small house we rented by the week and shared with a giant rat. I write about my small Illinois town where I grew up. I write about people who affect me and places I've never seen. After I let go of my old life of solitude in the wilderness, I began to embrace the quickness in which I was required to live, to be a musician in Austin.  I want to be heard as more than a girl songwriter because there is a sexless grit behind my words and band. I want to move you."

Both are now full time musicians based in Austin, TX.

Loren’s been on the Radio in Anchorage for 30 years. Since the mid 80's he's worked with Anchorage radio stations including KWHL, KFQD, KKLV, and KMXS. His passion for Music and the 'Triple-A' radio format began in the early 90’s which led to him to help establish the format for KNBA when the station signed on in 1996. When not on the radio hosting a music show and interviewing local and national music acts, he may be on a long road trip or you’ll find him hanging out at his log cabin in the quiet, but bear filled hillside valley of his hometown Anchorage.
