6/27/14 KNBA News - 100 lodge guests move to higher ground due to flooding in Denali National Park

Yesterday, the National Park Service closed the Denali Park Road at Mile 66 due to flooding and significant rockfall, after torrential rains Wednesday. Some 100 guests of the Denali Backcountry Lodge were evacuated to a lodge on higher ground. High water on the road and airport are prevention their transport out of the Park. NPS is working on a contingency plan to move them by helicopter.

U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski is shepherding small appropriations for icebreakers through the Senate while also working to get Congress and the Administration to make Arctic issues a higher priority.

6/5/14 KNBA News - The North Slope's first natural gas development project progresses

Exxon Mobil's Pt. Thompson Field is expected to begin moving about 10,000 barrels per day of natural gas condensate in late 2015 or early 2016.

Pavlof volcano's ash and steam plumes have led to canceled flights on the Alaska Peninsula.

A 5.6 magnitude quake shook Southeast Alaska early Wednesday.

The number of wolves in Denali National Park and Preserve is the lowest since biologists began tracking the population thirty years ago.
