 KNBA keeping you in tuned with Our Community! In today's segment, Danny Preston speaks with President of the Sobermiut organization, Sonia Vent and co-founder/secretary Steven Randazoo. Sobermiut was created in 2004/2005 as a nonprofit that unifies Alaskan Native individuals, families, and communities that reinforces a healthy lifestyle: free of alcohol and drug abuse. Sobermiut will be having a fundraiser for the Alaska Native Community Center. The center is a place where people can get together and just be their selves.

KNBA keeping you in tuned with Our Community! In today's segment, Danny Preston speaks with Peter Porco, the curator of the upcoming play "The Lady is a Trucker; Anchorage Rides the Road to War." The play is part of a ten week long presentation presented by Cyrano's Theatre Company. Cyrano's will be presenting a different decade in Anchorage history in the form of a living newspaper, highlighting the headline stories and colorful characters of the day, with authentic music of the period and film clips, etc.

KNBA keeps you in tune with 'Our Community' Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:50am! In the segment aired June 23rd, KNBA Volunteer host Wigi fills in for Danny Preston and speaks with representatives  Geran Tarr and Marcus Freeman! They are happy to announce the 7th annual Mountain View Street Fair at Clark Middle School. Activities will include face painting, a bounce house, food vendors which kids get to eat for free, and more! Another fun event at the fair will be the Mountain View Street Jam.  It is a break dancing competition and anyone at any age can compete for cash prizes!

KNBA keeping you in tuned with Our Community! In today's segment, Danny Preston speaks with Senior Director of Communications at United Way, Laura Brown! Today, May 21st, is officially Red Nose day! It is a fundraising event for eradicating child poverty. 2015 marks the first year of the event, but it originally started in the UK and has raised over a billion dollars toward ending child poverty. The way to activley participate in Red Nose Day is by first obtaining a red nose. Then take a photo or selfie of yourself and upload it to social media. It's that easy.
