9/4/14 KNBA News - Alaska Native language speakers win voting rights case against state

A federal district court has sided with four villages who filed suit saying the state needs to do more to protect voting rights of non-English speaking Alaskans.  The state of Alaska said because the languages are not written, it was doing enough by providing oral translations. However, attorneys for the plaintiffs says poll workers are not directed nor paid to provide oral translations at the polls.

2/26/14 KNBA Morning News - A bill meant to limit Medicaid payouts for abortion is back

A bill that would limit Medicaid payouts for abortion is before the Legislature again, this time without provisions for birth control and STD testing.

The 2013 record harvest of pink salmon could create a market glut that will drive down prices for several years, say state officials.

Alaska House Democrats have confirmed Sam Kito III, a lobbyist, for Juneau's vacated House seat.
