7/8/14 KNBA News - Bear mauls jogger; K9 survives stab wounds; Arrest made in racial incident

A jogger on a trail south of Anchorage was mauled by a brown bear sow after coming across two bear cubs. Susanne Knudson was medevacked to an Anchorage hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Police dog M.P. is in good spirits and recovering from stab wounds after apprehending a violent suspect early Saturday morning in Anchorage.

7/8/14 KNBA News - Bear mauls jogger south of Anchorage; Suspect stabs Anchorage Police dog

Anchorage Police Department K9 MP is eager to return to work but will be taking off a couple of weeks so his stab wounds can heal. A suspect stabbed him repeatedly with a pocketknife while MP kept his grip on the man's forearm early July 5, 2014.

  After coming up on two cubs, a jogger was attacked from behind by the mother bear on the Penguin Ridge Trail south of Anchorage. Susanne Knudsen of Indian was medevacked to an Anchorage hospital with serious 

  injuries that are not considered life threatening. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game has closed the trail.
